Have you ever believed with all of your heart that something was the right path for you but then discover as you build that alliance that it has the elements of unhealthy tendencies which have beguiled your path forever? As a leader we have so many subconscious triggers and tendencies which can get in our way of truly authentically building the best organization that we can and if we don't address them they get in the way.
We either have the same pattern consistently show up or we have a new trigger at each new level of growth that we face. So often we live with the old ways, old tendencies, old sabotaging programming for so long that we don't know anymore what is the same old pattern and/or what is really going to push us through. As leaders if you have a nagging issue, where you feel like are taking one step forward and one step back, the book Immunity to Change is a great resource. It helps to understand what is the thing we say we want, what actions we are taking instead, what the hidden competing commitments are, and then what are the big assumptions that may be getting in the way of what is truly your goal. Often hidden assumptions, or beliefs, which may be limiting our thinking get in the way of us achieving what it is that we truly want. Through talking through the four areas leaders can truly begin to see how they might be getting in their own way and then choose to take different actions. Being bold requires being authentic, and in order to be authentic leaders have to be open enough to really know themselves AND let others know them. Hidden assumptions can limit us as leaders in terms of our ability to grow and be the best leader we can. Are you willing to be BOLD in your self-discovery in order to truly grow into your highest potential as a leader?
